Possible cooperation between Ukraine and Singapore within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has good prospects, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said at a meeting with Singaporean Minister for Foreign Affairs and Justice Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam, Poroshenko's press service has reported.
"Our cooperation can be highly productive, especially in areas such as logistics, management, production, aircraft building, space exploration, scientific and military-technological cooperation, environmental protection, information, communication technologies and the introduction of electronic management," the Ukrainian leader said.
Shanmugam, for his part, spoke out in favor of broadening cooperation with Ukraine and the two countries' exchange of experience in state governance, the fight against corruption, the economy and security issues, Poroshenko's press service said.
The minister also informed the Ukrainian leader of a program that allows civil servants from different countries to come to Singapore, work there for a while and draw up their proposals. He invited Ukraine to join such an initiative because Ukraine's experience may prove quite interesting for Singapore.
Poroshenko, for his part, invited Singapore's president and prime minister to visit Ukraine at any convenient time for them.
