The ambassador made this statement at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Friday.

He said he laid a wreath on behalf of the American people in memory of the great sacrifice made by the Soviet people and its allies in America, England and many other countries, in the name of the victory over Nazism.

America and Russia fought together as allies, which means they can cooperate and tackle global problems, he said.
