Cambodia deported Russian fugitive tycoon Sergey Polonsky on Sunday, Ouk Hai Seila, head of the General Department of Cambodia’s Immigration's investigation bureau told reporters.
Polonsky, who is being escorted by Russian officials, was put on a Moscow flight via Vietnam.
Russia was seeking Polonsky's extradition from Cambodia to hold him criminally liable in a fraud case related to the construction of the Kutuzov Mile residential complex. Polonsky has also been charged with embezzling money belonging to private investors in the Rublyovskaya Riviera residential complex.
The two criminal inquiries in relation of Polonsky have been merged.
A Russian court ordered the businessman's arrest in absentia and put him on the international wanted list.
Polonsky had fought off extradition requests from Cambodia with the country’s Supreme Court ruling that Russia and Cambodia did not have an extradition treaty.
The tycoon’s lawyers were not available for immediate comment.
