The Indian government plans to open a consulate in Novosibirsk. The announcement was made by the Indian ambassador to the Russian Federation P.S. Raghavan during a meeting with Novosibirsk mayor Anatoly Lokot.

"We need a consulate in this part of the country. We have consulates in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but between Moscow and Vladivostok there’s nothing", he said.

The ambassador observed that despite the fact that establishing a consulate required certain financing and budgetary expenses, it will happen. "Its in our plans", he said.

Lokot supported the ambassador, adding that Novosibirsk has everything necessary, in particular, a large international airport.
