Russian President Vladimir Putin has forwarded a telegram to Joseph Blatter to congratulate him on his reelection as the president of FIFA, the association football international governing body, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday.
"Putin said he is convinced that expertise, professionalism, and high authority will help Blatter to continue facilitating the expansion of football's geography and popularity all over the world," Peskov said.
"The president yet again emphasized that Russia is interested in and is ready for cooperation with FIFA as a whole and in preparing the 2018 World Cup in Russia in particular," Peskov said.
"Russia is determined to do all it can for the successful organization of this event and also for football's popularization and the broadening of the multimillion-strong army of lovers of this sport," Peskov quoted Putin as saying in his message to Blatter.
