Russian President Vladimir Putin may meet with Pope Francis during his visit to Italy next week, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin may meet with Pope Francis during his visit to Italy next week, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.

"The possibility of this meeting is being discussed," Peskov said.

Peskov earlier said that Putin was planning to visit Italy and attend the Expo-2015 universal exposition in Milan.
