Cambodian court grants bail to Russian origin businessman Doroshenko

The former business partner of Sergei Polonsky was granted bail on the grounds of poor health.

Two months after he was jailed on charges related to a dispute with his recently deported investment partner Sergey Polonsky, Russian origin businessman Nicholai Doroshenko was granted bail by Cambodia’s Supreme Court, according to a report on the Cambodia Daily.

Supreme Court vice president Khim Pon said the court had released Doroshenko, a Cambodian citizen, because he had a heart condition, according to the report.

Polonsky accused Doroshenko of forging signatures on fake documents to steal $10 million from their joint Sea Snake Investment Group.

Lawyers believe the case has gotten weaker with the deportation of Polonsky to Moscow.
