A total of 6,454 people have been killed and another 16,146 wounded in the conflict in Ukraine as of June 3 since April 2014, said Jens Laerke, a spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
More than 5 million people need humanitarian assistance in eastern Ukraine, the spokesman told reporters in Geneva on Tuesday.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko told the country’s parliament last week that 6,400 civilians and 1,700 servicemen died during the special operation in Donbas.
