EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn has declared the unwavering position of the European Union on the issue of lifting or extending sanctions against Russia.
The preliminary decision made before the upcoming summit of the European Union to extend [anti-Russian] sanctions for the next six months and to link them to the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements demonstrates the EU's support for Ukraine and the clear position on the conflict in Donbas and Crimea, he said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kiev on June 18.
The commissioner said he had come to Kyiv to reiterate that the European Union was totally on the side of Ukraine, especially on the issue of resolution of the Donbas conflict, and added that they should not forget about the Crimean conflict either.
