Businessman Usmanov to help pay salary arrears to Russia soccer team head coach

Russian businessman Alisher Usmanov will provide the Russian Football Union (RFS) with 300 million rubles to pay salary arrears to the head coach of the Russia national soccer team, Fabio Capello, Usmanov's press service said.

"As a member of the board of trustees of the organizing committee for the Russia 2018 World Cup, Russian entrepreneur A. B. Usmanov has decided to provide the RFS with financial aid to a sum of 300 million rubles," the press service said in a statement.

"The sum total of the aid that Mr. Usmanov will extend to the RFS will cover the entire amount that the RFS owes the head coach as of today," it said.

"I share the concern of the Russian minister of sports. The RFS should primarily base its decisions on sports factors that can seriously improve the quality and stability of the game," Usmanov said.

In February this year, Usmanov lent 400 million rubles to the RFS to pay salary arrears to Capello.
