Investigative Committee confirms State Duma deputy Ponomaryov's indictment

The Russian Investigative Committee has confirmed that State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomaryov has been indicted for complicity in misappropriation.

"The Investigative Committee directorate for special investigations has ruled to indict State Duma deputy Ponomaryov for committing a crime covered by Russian Criminal Code Articles 33 and 160 [complicity in misappropriation]," Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Wednesday.

"If Ponomaryov refuses to appear before an investigator to undergo the necessary investigative procedures, the Investigative Committee will initiate his placement on the wanted list, including the international one, if need be," he said.

Parallel to this, the investigation will also take measures to make sure that the damage caused by this crime be compensated for, he said.
