Fighter jet crashed in Kuban, fire onboard - source

A fire onboard caused the crash of a Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter jet near the village of Kushchevskaya in the Krasnodar territory, a source in the regional law enforcement authorities told Interfax-AVN.

 "The plane caught fire while flying in the airfield area. The pilot immediately informed the ground. The flight supervisor confirmed that he saw smoke billowing behind the plane and ordered [the pilot] to eject," the source said.

In his words, the plane crashed in a deserted area and the pilot was not hurt.
