Putin backs Greece's efforts to come out of crisis in conversation with Tsipras

In a phone conversation with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced support for the efforts taken by the people of Greece to come out of the crisis, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.

In a phone conversation with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced support for the efforts taken by the people of Greece to come out of the crisis, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.

"On our part, support was voiced for the efforts taken by Greek society to come out of the crisis which Greece is now experiencing," Ushakov told a briefing in Moscow on July 6.

"The conversation addressed general issues relating to the referendum. Tsipras spoke about the situation in Greece and said that contact with the European creditors continues," he said.

Russia respects the outcome of the Greek referendum and wishes Athens to reach a compromise with its creditors as soon as possible, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said.
