Members states of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) and the SCO (the Shanghai Cooperation Organization) are good in uniting their efforts in fight against present-day challenges and threats, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanayee told TASS on Thursday.
"Current summits of the SCO and BRICS in [Russia’s] Ufa are very important events both for Russia and the whole Eurasian region," Sanayee said in an interview with TASS. "Such organizations as the SCO and BRICS are already the symbols of the multipolar world."
The ambassador said that under the current geopolitical realities only the fact of multipolar nature in international relations can lead to the solution of many key issues in the world.
"Very serious problems can be currently seen in the Middle East as well as in Afghanistan," he said. "The SCO is the international organization capable of effectively settling most of these problems, including the problem of Islamic radicalism and extremism as well as the trans-border drugs trafficking."
"The SCO also has enormous potential for the resolution of the domestic conflict in Afghanistan," the ambassador said.
"All forces should be united to effectively fight with the most of the present-day challenges and threats," he said. "BRICS and the SCO are good at it."
The Iranian ambassador also said that the SCO is a good platform, where Iran will be able to voice its opinion in the future.
"Iran has big potential in terms of its influence in the Middle East and Eurasia on the whole and its opinion cannot be ignored," Sanayee added.
