Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law adjusting Articles 5 and 102 of Federal Law on Elections of Deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, shifting the elections of the parliament lower house from December to September 2016.

The law was published on the official legal information portal.

The law was passed by the State Duma on July 3, 2015, and approved by the Federation Council on July 8, 2015.

"The election of deputies of the Seventh State Duma shall be held on the third Sunday of September 2016," the law said.

According to the document, the Seventh State Duma shall convene its first meeting no later than on the 30th day after its election.

This federal law shall take effect on the day of its official publishing.
