Saakashvili wants Ukrainian post for Russian opposition activist Gaidar

Odessa governor Mikhail Saakashvili is asking Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to grant Russian citizen and political opposition activist Maria Gaidar citizenship of Ukraine for her to become his deputy.

Odessa governor Mikhail Saakashvili is asking Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to grant Russian citizen and political opposition activist Maria Gaidar citizenship of Ukraine for her to become his deputy.

"Maria Gaidar is a brilliant Russian political leader," Saakashvili said. "I knew and respected her father Egor Gaidar."

Gaidar is the daughter of late Yegor Gaidar, a prominent reformer and member of the government formed by Russia’s first president, Boris Yeltsin. She is "a prominent Russian political leader," Saakashvili said.
