Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC) will hold a meeting with university rectors to counter recruitment of students by the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization, ATC head General Colonel Andrey Novikov said on Wednesday.
"Talking about active prevention or recruitment of young people to international terrorist organizations, including IS, CIS ATC plans to hold a joint meeting of rectors of largest universities in the European part of Russia, representatives of security services, special services and law enforcement agencies concerned with countering extremism and terrorism, as well as representatives of different religious denominations, civil society institutions and experts," Novikov told the 14th Meeting of heads of special services, security services and law enforcement agencies that opened in Russia’s Yaroslavl today.
"IS recruiters want to recruit in our universities. Our common aim is to stop this activity," he stressed. The meeting with rectors will focus on "developing practical recommendations on preventing and timely suppressing instances of recruiting students to participate in destructive activities of international extremist and terrorist organizations," he concluded.
