Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Yusuf bin Alawi during a working trip to Qatar, where they discussed the resolution of the Yemeni conflict, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"At the meeting Lavrov and Yusuf bin Alawi discussed current issues concerning Russian-Omani relations. The importance of their intensification and the use of large potential cooperation in different spheres was noted," the ministry said in a statement at its website.
The ministers have discussed the situation in the Middle East, including the conflict in Yemen, "where Oman is playing a useful mediating role," the ministry said.
The interlocutors also discussed the prospects of development in the Persian Gulf after the Iranian nuclear deal had been signed.
