Russian President Vladimir Putin will definitely congratulate his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama on his birthday by sending a telegram, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"Congratulations are definitely planned," Peskov told reporters on Aug. 4.

At that, a telephone conversation is not on Putin's schedule today but "of course, a congratulatory telegram will be sent to the U.S. president," the spokesman said.

U.S. President Barack Obama is celebrating his 54th birthday on Tuesday. According to U.S. mass media reports, Obama celebrated his birthday in advance having gone with childhood friends on August 1 to the residence at Camp David.
