Vietnamese swimmer wins bronze at FINA World Championships in Kazan

Nguyen Thi Anh Vien became the first Vietnamese swimmer to win a medal in the World Swimming Championships

Nguyen Thi Anh Vien won the bronze in the women's 200-meter individual medley event at the FINA World Swimming Championships in Kazan.  This was the first podium finish for a Vietnamese swimmer in the world championships, according to Viet Nam News.

Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu of Hungary and Zsuzsanna Jakobos won the gold and silver, respectively.

Anh Vien is the second swimmer from Southeast Asia to win a medal in this year’s FINA championship. Last week, Singapore’s Joseph Schooling won a bronze in the 100-meters men’s butterfly event.
