Ukrainian Security Service Alpha special unit officers have detained five Russian citizens affiliated to an international terrorist organization in Kiev.
The Ukrainian Security Service press service said on Aug. 18 one of the detainees was wanted by the Interpol. He was seized by police of a European country last year but attacked his guards and ran away.
Handguns, cartridges and a live grenade were seized from the suspects. Ukrainian Security Service officers found schematics of improvised exclusive devices and bomb components - a timer, microelements, microchips and batteries - in the rented apartment. The possible involvement of these persons in preparations for terror attacks in Kyiv is being verified.
A criminal case was opened against the Russian citizens under Article 258-3 (the establishment of a terrorist group or a terrorist organization) of the Ukrainian Criminal Code and they were declared as suspects. The court has ordered their custody.
