Russia seeks Malaysian expertise in halal food, Islamic Finance

Malaysian companies have been invited to help develop halal food processing units in Russia

Russia is working with Malaysia to facilitate and develop its halal industry and Islamic Finance, Linar Yakupov, President of the Regions-Russia Association said, according to The Daily Express.

Yakupov said Malaysian companies involved in the halal industry could enter into joint ventures to set up production and distribution centers in Russia.

“Russia is really pushing towards its agenda on import substitution. We grow a lot of agricultural raw materials, which need to be processed,” Yakupov said, according to the report. “We know our shortcomings. I think we are gaining momentum as there are Malaysian companies which are matured enough to go into the Russian market.”
