Russia will promote its national tourism product in the Middle East and Africa and form a positive image of itself in this region, a spokesperson for the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm) told Interfax on Aug. 28.
On Friday the agency signed an agreement with VisitRussia, the national marketing center, and the Russian Council of Entrepreneurs of the Middle East and Africa Region.
"The subject matter of the agreement is to cooperate in the efficient development of inbound and outbound tourism in Russia, to promote the national tourism product in the Middle Eastern and African countries, and to form a positive image of the Russian Federation in this region," the spokesperson said.
The parties are expected to hold joint exhibitions, forums and congresses, and to organize trips for tourism and media industry representatives.
In March Russia opened its tourism representative office in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to promote Russia in the Middle Eastern market.
