Russia obtained Iran's permission for flights carrying aid to Syria to use its air space

Tehran is not obstructing the flights of Russian planes carrying humanitarian aid to Syria through the Iranian air space, the Russian embassy in Iran said.

Tehran is not obstructing the flights of Russian planes carrying humanitarian aid to Syria through the Iranian air space, the Russian embassy in Iran said.

"The Russian embassy has now received permission for all the requested flights of Russian planes carrying humanitarian aid to Syria," Maxim Suslov, press attache of the Russian embassy in Tehran, said in a phone interview with Interfax on Sept.9.

He said "the Russian embassy is in close contact with the Iranian authorities on this matter."

According to earlier reports, the Bulgarian authorities banned Russian planes from flying to Syria using the country's air space in the period between September 1 and September 24.
