Batkivshchyna faction leader Yuliya Tymoshenko has contacted the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's office over the unlawful use of 3.1 million cubic meters of natural gas by the country's government.
"I hereby declare that by approving the 2015 balance sheet for natural gas distribution the government violated the law 'On the functioning principles of the natural gas market', namely, its Article 10. And it short-delivered at least 3.1 billion cubic meters of gas intended for households. The question is: where has this gas gone? The answer is: it is in the crime report being sent to the Prosecutor General's office; instead of giving these 3.1 billion cubic meters of gas to the people, they were given to the businesses close to the government, no doubt, as part of a corruption scheme," Tymoshenko told reporters in Kiev on Sept.9.
Such actions by the government led to the unjustified increase of gas rates for households, Tymoshenko said.
