Rosoboronexport says chances are high to sign a contract for the delivery of T-90S tanks to Peru in the medium-term prospect.
"Prospects to promote this hardware in Peru remain. Opinions on the testing and demonstration of this tank in Peru are rather positive," Rosoboronexport Deputy General Director Sergei Goreslavsky told Interfax-AVN at Russia Arms EXPO 2015 (RAE 2015) in Nizhny Tagil on Sept.10.
The procurement of Russian tanks "has been delayed to a medium-term prospect by the leadership and the military command of the country," he said.
"The decision to postpone the procurement of tanks is caused by the fact that Peru and Russia are currently implementing the biggest ever helicopter project," Goreslavsky said.
He noted that the contract for the delivery of 24 Mil Mi-171Sh multirole helicopters to Peru was signed in 2013.
