Belgrade hopes to begin the talks on its accession to the European Union within the next three or four months, Serbian Ambassador to Russia Slavenko Terzic said.

"Serbia expects that such talks will begin before the end of this year," he told reporters on Sept.14 in reply to an Interfax correspondent's relevant question.

"Serbia is interested in admission to the EU, we are holding very serious talks and Serbia regards them as an important strategic trend," the ambassador said.

"At present talks are being prepared over concrete provisions [the fulfillment of which are needed for accession to the EU]," Terzic said.
