Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill has extended his condolences to Saudi King Salman bin Abd al-Aziz al Saud in connection with the Mecca crane collapse, which killed over 100 people.
"It was with heartache that I heard the news that hundreds of people who were on a pilgrimage to Mecca were killed and injured," the patriarch said in his address posted on the website of the external relations department of the Moscow patriarchate.
The Russian Orthodox Church grieves with those who lost their relatives and loved ones in this tragedy, Patriarch Kirill said in his address, asking the Saudi king to give them "words of support and wishes of spiritual strength and courage."
