"This is the first such project in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and we hope it won't be the last, as North Korea has considerable potential for the development of minerals, including precious metals," a statement issued by the Magadan regional government's information department quoted Andrei Rashin, head of Omsukchan Mining and Geology Company, which is part of the Northern Mine holding, as saying.
