The worlds of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who voiced readiness to admit participation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in negotiations on the Syrian settlement sort well with Russia’s stance on the issue, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"This corresponds to what President Putin has repeatedly said," he said.
"The Russian side and President Putin have repeatedly stressed that the future of Syria could not be decided by third countries; only the Syrian people can decide Syria’s destiny and it is impossible to artificially expel the legitimate president of the Syrian Arab Republic from the settlement process, as this makes the whole process of settlement unrealistic," Peskov said.
