Baghdad coordination center aimed at fighting ISIS - Lavrov

The purpose of setting up a coordination center of Russia, Iraq, Iran and Syria in Baghdad is to coordinate the efforts in the fight against ISIS, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

"We are coordinating efforts (with partners) in the fight against ISIS," the minister said before a meeting with his U.S. counterpart John Kerry, when asked about the purpose of creating the center.

A military diplomatic source in Moscow said a day earlier that Russia, Syria, Iran and Iraq had set up an information center in Baghdad to coordinate the fight against Islamic State. He said the center's main objective will be to gather, process, summarize and analyze current information on the situation in the Middle Eastern region in the context of the fight against IS and to promptly send such information to the four countries' general staffs.
