"I would simply reiterate that when President Obama met with President Putin, they agreed that the United States and Russia have a common interest in fighting ISIS in Syria. They agreed on the need for a channel between our militaries to ensure that misunderstandings between Coalition and Russian units are avoided. However, our position is clear that President Assad is not a suitable partner for the fight against terror and extremism in Syria," U.S. official William Stevens told Interfax on Sept. 30.
