Russia’s Aerospace Forces’ jets have conducted 18 sorties against 12 facilities of the Islamic State terrorist group in Syria over the past 24 hours, Russia’s Defense Ministry official spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.
"This night, ten sorties were carried out. Pinpoint strikes were delivered on seven facilities of terrorists," Maj.Gen. Konashenkov said, reminding that the Russian air group in Syria includes Su-24M, Su-25 and Su-34.
Late on Thursday, the Defense Ministry said during the day Russia’s warplanes conducted eights sorties against five facilities of the Islamic State.
The airstrikes destroyed a command post and a communications point of the IS armed units near Dar Tazza, in the province of Aleppo, in Syria’s north-west.
Sukhoi Su-25 fighter jets bombed a field camp of the IS gunmen near Maarrat al-Nu'man, in the Idlib province, completely destroying the terrorists’ bunkers, ammunition depots and fuel and lubrication materials, Konashenkov said.
The Sukhoi Su-24M planes of the Russian Aerospace Force air group in Syria have destroyed a fortified command post of the Islamic State militants in the Hama province, as well as a transhipment base and a large ammunition depot of the militants.
"In the province of Hama near the Kafer-Zaita locality the Su-24M aircraft have destroyed a command post of militants of the Islamic State organisation (banned in Russia), which was a well-fortified concrete facility in which the terrorists were equipping shelter. Based on analysis of the video control materials, several dozen units of hardware equipped with large-calibre small arms have also been destroyed," he said.
Konashenkov said the Sukhoi Su-34 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed a command post of the Islamic State militants and launched an airstrike on the militant training camp.
"On October 1, the Su-34 planes made airstrikes on an IS training camp near the Maadan-Jedid settlement and on a camouflaged command post near Kasert-Faraj, southwest of the city of Raqqa," he said.
According to the spokesman, Russia’s newest multi-role Sukhoi-34 jets are capable of attacking terrorist targets at any place in Syria.
"With this type of planes we can hitting IS targets at any place on the Syrian territory," Konashenkov said.
"I would like to point out that Russia’s Sukhoi-34 planes dealt pinpoint strikes against targets from an altitude of more than 5,000 meters. The onboard targeting and homing equipment enables the planes to hit ground targets with absolute accuracy," Konashenkov said.
He recalled that on Thursday there was a confirmation of this after an attack against Islamic State infrastructures in the area of Al-Raqqah.
The Russian Defence Ministry has been providing exhaustive and authentic information about the operations of its air force group in Syria twice a day and it is going to do so further on.
"Twice a day we provide exhaustive information to the Russian and world public about the operation of our air force group in Syria and complement it with specific maps and photographs and videos. We are determined to go ahead with this work further on."
Russia’s Aerospace Forces mounted the first pin-point strikes against terrorist facilities in Syria on Wednesday, September 30. Russia’s air group in Syria consists of over 50 planes and helicopters, the Defense Ministry said earlier.
