Russia is helping to resolve the Syrian crisis, while Syria's President Bashar al-Assad is acting as the main obstacle to the settlement process, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel said in an interview with Interfax.
"Russia is part of the crisis settlement [process] in Syria, whereas the country's incumbent President Bashar al-Assad is more of a problem for this country," he said.
"We are all convinced that we need a common approach, a common goal and methods, as well as joint measures to resolve the Syrian crisis," Bettel said.
At the same time, Luxembourg's prime minister cautioned against a lack of coordination during Russian and U.S. activities in Syria.
"If we continue to act in Syria in an isolated manner, I mean someone will act together with Russia and someone together with the U.S., this will result in the emergence of two opposing blocs. Such a situation would cause our regret," he added.
