Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry discussed the situation in Syria and Ukraine in a telephone conversation on Oct. 15, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
"The conversation was focused on the situation in Syria. The parties praised the work between the Russian and U.S. military agencies on coordinating security measures in Syria's airspace in the context of antiterrorist activities," the ministry said.
"The minister and the secretary of state also agreed to continue contacts on various aspects of the settlement process in Syria in keeping with the Geneva communique of June 30, 2012," it said.
Lavrov and Kerry "also considered the implementation of the Minsk agreements on a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine, taking into account the outcomes of a meeting between the Normandy Quartet leaders in Paris on October 2," it said.
