Air force pilots of Russia and Israel have begun training as part of efforts to ensure the safety of flights over Syria, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Oct. 15.
"Yesterday the first stage of training was held focusing on coordination between the Aerospace Force of Russia and the Air Force of Israel with the aim of preventing dangerous incidents in the sky over the Syrian Arab Republic," he said.
"Mutual information sharing on aircraft activity has been organized using a hotline between the Russian air force command center at the Hmeimin airbase and a command center of Israel's Air Force," Konashenkov said.
"The second stage of training with our Israeli colleagues will take place today," he added.
