Stances of Russia, U.S. on flight safety in Syrian airspace getting closer

Russia and the United States got their positions closer together on key provisions of a prospective agreement on flight safety over Syria during the talks on Wednesday, Russian Defense Ministry official Igor Konashenkov said on Oct. 15.

Russia and the United States got their positions closer together on key provisions of a prospective agreement on flight safety over Syria during the talks on Wednesday, Russian Defense Ministry official Igor Konashenkov said on Oct. 15.

"Yesterday, we held the next round of our accommodation of the text of an agreement to ensure safety of flights over Syria for Russian aviation and air vehicles of the U.S.-led coalition. We are to note our closer positions on key provisions of the future deal. We have agreed on the further actions of the parties," Konashenkov said.

The discussion was conducted in a professional manner and a constructive atmosphere. "We are doing the same together with our counterparts from other countries," Konashenkov added.
