It was reported that in early August Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Francois Hollande have taken a joint decision to terminate the effect of the contract on the construction and delivery of two Mistral helicopter carriers to Russia.

The termination of the Mistral contract cost France around one billion euros.

After this France has concluded an agreement with Egypt on the sale of the Mistral helicopter carriers previously intended for Russia.
