Police in Moscow and the Moscow region have been put on high alert over the series of murders committed in the town Krasnogorsk, just outside Moscow, on Monday, a Russian Interior Ministry spokesman told Interfax on Oct. 20.
"At the moment, measures continue as part of the 'Interception' plan aimed at tracking down the person suspected in a series of killings in Moscow and the Moscow region," he said.
On October 19, Krasnogorsk First Deputy Mayor Yury Karaulov and head of Krasnogorsk's power grid Georgy Kotlyarenko were shot dead in their office by local businessman Amiran Georgadze. It emerged later that hiding from law enforcement agencies, the suspect also killed a person riding a scooter. Furthermore, when searching Georgadze's house, investigators found the dead body of his fourth victim - Trestan Zakaidze, who was Georgadze's construction business partner.
