Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that relations between Moscow and Tehran have been developing in a highly productive way, describing his last meeting with Iran's president as constructive.
"As for today's relations, they are developing in a very productive way. Our last meeting and conversation with the president of Iran in New York was very constructive and detailed. And I would like to ask you to convey our best wishes to the leadership of Iran - the supreme leader and the president," Putin said at a meeting with Speaker of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly Ali Larijani on Oct. 23.
The Russian president also noted Iran's role in the fight against terrorism.
"Iran has been making a very large and constructive contribution to efforts aimed at tackling the problem of the fight against terrorism, including in Syria. We highly value our joint work in this area, including within the information center in Baghdad. Our position is that without Iran's participation in Syria's settlement, this process will not be lasting and sustainable," he said.
Putin also thanked Larijani for his personal contribution to the settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.
"It is also your personal success," Putin added.
