Visit of Saudi Arabia’s king to Russia before year end possible — Kremlin

During a telephone conversation that took place earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Arabia’s King expressed their understanding of the need to continue cooperation.

The Kremlin does not rule out that Saudi King Salman bin Abd al-Aziz al Saud will visit Russia before the end of the year, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"Such a possibility is studied through diplomatic channels. After all necessary conditions and time limits are agreed, we, together with our Saudi Arabian partners, will make a relevant statement," Peskov said, answering a question whether a visit of the Saudi Arabian leader to Russia was possible before the end of the year.

The Kremlin spokesman also said that during a telephone conversation that took place earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Arabia’s King expressed their understanding of the need to continue cooperation on the situation in Syria and in the Middle East.

Answering a question from a TASS correspondent on whether coordination of actions in Syria with Saudi Arabia was discussed during the conversation, Peskov said," There is an understanding of the need to continue cooperation and dialogue on the Syrian settlement as well as the Middle East settlement."
