Russia will do everything possible to prevent the spread of the terrorist threat to Lebanon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We will do everything necessary to prevent the terrorist threat from spreading to Lebanon," he said before meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Gibran Bassil.
Lavrov also suggested meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Gibran Bassil more frequently, bearing in mind the current situation in the region.
"In this situation, meetings should be more frequent, bearing in mind the threats that we all are facing now and the hardships experienced by Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and other countries," he said.
Lavrov also said he plans to discuss cooperation with Lebanon on the settlement of the Syrian crisis today.
"We are hoping to discuss our cooperation on the settlement of the Syrian crisis to prevent ISIL from seizing power," he said.
"We are also hoping to discuss our bilateral relations," Lavrov said, pointing out the high personal contribution made by the Lebanese foreign minister in the establishment of these relations.
