Criminal case opened into Russian deaths in Mali terrorist attack

6 Volga-Dnepr airline employees were killed on Nov. 20

The Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for the Ulyanovsk region has opened a criminal case on the basis of the killing of residents of the region who were employees of the airline Volga-Dnepr in the city of Bamako in Mali.

"According to investigators, six employees of the airline [of which five are residents of the Ulyanovsk region] were killed on November 20, 2015 in a hostage-taking attack at Radisson Blue Hotel in Bamako, the capital of Mali," the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for the Ulyanovsk region reported.

An investigation is now underway. Investigators have begun working with the victims and forensic and other tests will be ordered.
