New Indian Ambassador to Russia

The Indian government formally announced the appointment of Mr Pankaj Saran as India's next Ambassador to the Russian Federation.

Saran, now India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, is a career Foreign Service officer who has served as a diplomat for over 33 years.

He will replace P.S. Raghavan who retires from government service at the end of the year. Saran is expected to assume his new assignment early in 2016.
