A mass landing of Airborne Forces troops in the North Pole is planned in 2016

A mass landing of Russian Airborne Forces troops and cargo in the North Pole area of the Arctic is planned in the first half of 2016, Airborne Forces spokesman Lt. Col. Yevgeny Meshkov told Interfax-AVN on Nov. 30.

"Combat training under extreme conditions to include landing and multi-day field practice on the Arctic ice is planned to be conducted together with specialists of the Expedition Center of the Russian Geographical Society and Military Transport Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces," Meshkov said.
