The press service of the Federal Security Service department in the Sverdlovsk region told Interfax that Magomed Gireyev had been sentenced to three years and three months in custody and a fine of 200,000 rubles.
It said Gireyev was convicted on charges of "abetting terrorist activity."
"He was trying to recruit a person for armed units fighting in Syrian territory over the phone," a press service representative said.
Gireyev was born in Ingushetia.
