Anti-drugs programs developed in Russia to assist Afghanistan and Pakistan

Relevant budget funds to finance programs on assisting Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry Anti-Drug Police and Pakistan’s anti-drug agencies will be allocated.

Special programs on fighting against drugs have been developed in Russia to help Afghanistan and Pakistan combat the problem, Federal Drug Control Service director Viktor Ivanov said on Monday.

"In accordance with the Russian president’s order after the session of the State Council presidium, anti-drugs programs have been developed to help the relevant services of Afghanistan and Pakistan," Ivanov told the session of the governmental commission on developing and implementing anti-drugs programs.

He asked the Finance Ministry to allocate budget funds for financing these programs. "I ask to consider the issue in the short term and make a positive decision on including to the Russian Federation’s budget for 2017 relevant budget funds to finance programs on assisting Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry Anti-Drug Police and Pakistan’s anti-drug agencies," the director said.
