Iranian official calls for broader bilateral ties with Russia

This bridge between the two countries is very narrow today, he said

Iran can help Russia meet its domestic demand for goods whose imports from other countries to the Russian market have been suspended, and Tehran also suggested broadening cooperation in different areas, Gholamali Haddad-Adel, head of the fundamentalist faction in the Iranian Parliament, has said.

"Our cooperation is based on the 'win-win' principle. We can help Russia import goods that it previously imported from other countries, in other words help Russia meet its requirements. And Russia, for its part, can also help us in scientific, technical and industrial issues. It means some mutually advantageous cooperation," Adel said at a meeting with Russian Federation Council Deputy Speaker Ilyas Umakhanov.

This bridge between the two countries is very narrow today, the Iranian MP said.

"I want us to broaden this bridge as much as possible in order to facilitate ties and contacts between our two states," he said.

"I believe that we are facing a very clear and encouraging prospect," Adel said.
