3 sources told WSJ of the death in October 2015 of 9 Russians in Syria

The Kremlin has not commented on information about the alleged killing of nine Russians in Syria, saying this information was obtained using indirect methods and does not have any references.

Three sources told The Wall Street Journal of the death in October 2015 of nine Russians who were in Syria working for private military companies.

"We have no information on the [Armed Forces] personnel. It can be learned from our colleagues from the Defense Ministry," Russian presidential press officer Dmitry Peskov said, responding to a relevant question.

"Additionally, the information [on Russians who are in Syria for reasons other than officially working for the Defense Ministry] was obtained using indirect methods, without references [to any persons] and it is unlikely worth commenting on," Peskov said.
