The dead body of a woman has been found under rubble at the level of the second floor after a household gas explosion rocked a nine-storey residential building, located on Kosmonavtov Street in Volgograd, Natalya Kunitskaya, spokesperson for the Russian Investigative Committee's branch for the Volgograd region, has said.

"The body of a woman has been found in the vicinity of the second floor. The woman's identity has not yet been established," she said.

The second body, which was found under rubble on Monday, was identified today. It was reported earlier that the dead body of another person killed in the accident had been found at the site.

Household gas exploded in apartment building No. 47 on Dec. 20. Thirty-eight apartments were almost completely destroyed by the blast and the subsequent fire. Eleven people, among them two children, aged five and seven years old, were hospitalized after the accident.

The explosion is believed to have occurred in apartment No. 64, where a family of four is registered, including a 25-year-old mentally ill man, the Volgograd branch of the Russian Investigative Committee said in a report.

Investigators have opened a criminal inquiry on a count of 'production, storage, transportation or sale of commodities, products or services that do not meet safety requirements, accidentally causing the death of two or more people."
